The agreement
Terms of Service
Chimesong is an independent project run by Esharive Joshua Akpevweoghene in Delta State, Nigeria. This page is the agreement between you and me. I've tried to keep it short and readable. If a clause here can't be enforced where you live, the rest still holds.
Who can use Chimesong
You must be at least 18 years old to sign up from Nigeria. If you're in the EU, you must be at least 16 (13 in some countries whose national law lowers the age). If you're in the US, you must be at least 13 and have a parent's permission if you're under 18. If you're anywhere else, please respect your local age of digital consent.
You agree to sign up honestly — real age, an email you can actually receive, one account per person. No bots, no automated scripts, no bulk signups.
What Chimesong is (and isn't)
Chimesong is a reflection app. You describe your day. Anthropic's Claude reads it and gives it a score with a short reflection. That's it.
Chimesong is not a medical service, a therapist, a diagnostic tool, or a substitute for talking to a real human trained in mental health. It is not for use in a crisis. If you are in danger or considering harming yourself or someone else, please go to /safety and reach out to the people listed there.
Content you write
You own what you write. Your day entries belong to you. When you share a day publicly to the feed, you give Chimesong a narrow, revocable licence to host it, show it to other users, and let them react/comment/rate. Delete the entry any time and this licence ends. We do not sell your content, we do not train AI models on it, and we do not license it to third parties.
You agree not to post content that:
- Attacks or dehumanises people based on who they are.
- Sexualises children or contains explicit sexual material.
- Includes real people's private information (full names + address, phone numbers, workplaces).
- Is spam, promotion, or advertising.
- Depicts graphic violence for its own sake.
- Encourages illegal activity.
The Community Guidelines page (/guidelines) has more detail and examples. Content that violates those rules can be hidden by moderation. You'll get a note explaining why and how to appeal — that's the DSA statement-of-reasons and it applies to everyone, not just EU users.
AI transparency
The scores and reflections on Chimesong come from a large language model — currently Claude Sonnet 4.6 (Anthropic). That model is trained on a wide range of text and can be surprising, wrong, or awkward. It has no memory across sessions, no access to your other entries, and no way to reach you. Please treat its output as a companion piece, not a judgement.
AI-generated output is labelled at the point of use. This notice is not a certification of legal compliance; applicable obligations and deployed provider arrangements require review before public launch.
Things that could go wrong
Chimesong is provided "as is." I do my best to keep it running, moderated, and honest, but I can't promise perfect uptime, perfect scoring, perfect moderation, or that a comment will never sting. To the extent the law lets me, I disclaim all warranties (fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement).
To the extent the law lets me limit my liability, my total liability to you for anything arising from Chimesong is capped at the greater of what you've paid me in the last 12 months (currently zero for the free tier) or the equivalent of 100 US dollars. This limit does not apply where local law forbids it — including consumer protections in the EU, UK, and California.
You agree to indemnify me for third-party claims that come from your own content or your misuse of the app. This does not apply to claims caused by my own wrongful conduct.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If we have a dispute we can't work out by email, the courts of Delta State, Nigeria have jurisdiction — but nothing here prevents you from bringing a claim in your local consumer court where local law protects that right (this applies to EU, UK, California, and similar consumer-protection jurisdictions).
I will not force you into private arbitration or a class-action waiver. If either of those becomes a policy, this section will change and you'll be asked to accept the new version.
Changes to these Terms
If I materially change these Terms, I'll bump the version at the top of this page and ask you to accept the new one on your next sign-in. You can decline — but continued use requires acceptance. The full version history lives at /changelog.
